Surrey Lodge Group Practice is a GP Practice in Central Manchester. We are looking for a salaried GP to join our established team working 6 to 8 sessions per week. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care namely:

  • In person consultations.
  • Telephone consultations.
  • Visiting patients at home and in nursing homes.
  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions.
  • Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required.
  • All aspects of clinical administration.
  • Contribute to new ideas and be part of the Practice Team.

Main duties of the job

  • Take accountability for the highest standards and professional decision making in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers across the practice / PCN.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate.
  • Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well as wider guidance such as that from NICE.
  • Ensure appropriate follow up of patients.
  • Record clear and immediate consultation notes to agreed standards within clinical systems.
  • Actively participate in clinical audits, learning events and practice meetings, within a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions avoiding hand-written prescriptions.
  • Prescribe generically whenever appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance).
  • Work with and provide support for other members of the primary health care team.

Surrey Lodge Group Practice is a thriving practice with an interesting and diverse population of around 9500 patients. We have a strong and experienced GP team with 2 partners and 7 salaried GPs. We have a very experienced nursing team and a varied health care team including a clinical pharmacist, pharmacy technician, dietician, focused care worker, mental health practitioner and First Contact Physio. The team has a variety of special interests, including Pain Management (GPwSI level), LARC, MSK medicine, Diabetes, Palliative Care and Travel Medicine. We are keen to support any specialist interests that you may have or are keen to pursue. We aim to offer an excellent work/life balance and we aim to foster a warm and welcoming work environment. Our loyal administrative staff have all been with us for many years and are a vital part of the team. We have been involved in the teaching and training of medical students. There is plenty of opportunity to expand this in conjunction with local teaching opportunities.   • Qualified as a doctor with a GMC number.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
