Pay: £13.85 per hour
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, 4:00-7:00pm (Additional 2-3 days per week during school holidays, 13 weeks per year)
About the Role
We are seeking a caring and reliable Personal Assistant to support a child with complex needs in the family home and community.
Responsibilities
- Support with personal care, including toileting, dressing and hygiene
- Assist with mealtimes and monitor safety
- Provide mobility support indoors and outdoors
- Support epilepsy care, including seizure response and medication prompts
- Facilitate communication using visual aids, tactile cues, Makaton or POD
- Offer emotional reassurance, companionship and sensory-based activities
- Light household tasks related to the child’s care
Essential Skills & Experience
- 1–2 years’ experience supporting children or young people with complex needs
- Experience with sensory impairments and personal care
- Epilepsy awareness and confidence responding to seizures
- Strong non-verbal communication skills; Makaton (or willingness to learn)
- Calm, patient, discreet and able to follow care plans
Qualifications
- Care Certificate or equivalent
- Paediatric First Aid and Manual Handling
- Safeguarding Children Level 2 or 3
- Epilepsy training (including rescue medication if required)
Desirable: BSL Level 1 or sensory impairment training
Additional Information
- Driver preferred but not essential
- No pets in the household
- The child enjoys tactile play, rhythmic music, gentle walks, and sensory-friendly activities
A calm, creative PA who enjoys engaging through touch, sound and movement would be ideal.
