The predicted salary is between 29970 - 36483 £ per year.

The following are the core responsibilities of this role. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.

  • Phlebotomy
  • Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately.
  • Accurately measure and record clinical measurements such as height, weight and waist measurements.
  • To undertake NHS health checks.
  • Perform ECGs.
  • Support the practice nursing team with wound care/dressing.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of clinical information and patient interventions on relevant electronic database systems (e.g. EMIS).
  • Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating.
  • Provide and communicate relevant health promotion literature and lifestyle advice to patients.
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with IPC policy.
  • Work as an effective and responsible team member, supporting others and exploring mechanisms to develop new ways of working.
  • Support the PCN with health promotion programmes as appropriate.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by a manager to ensure quality of service.

Qualifications

  • Essential Qualifications
  • GCSE Maths and English (C and above) or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy certification.
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • Six months of relevant experience working in a primary care environment in the last two years.
    • Care Certificate.
    • Relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent.

    Skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels including with patients, carers, specialist services, GPs and colleagues.
    • Good technical literacy with e.g. Word, Excel, and experience using a clinical system such as EMIS.
    • Able to work independently and manage own workload.
    • Able to build strong professional relationships.
    • Understanding of social determinants of health and how these can be addressed with patients.

    Experience

    • Essential Experience
    • Experience of working with healthcare professionals and/or previous experience in the NHS or social care.
    • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders or individuals to meet specified outcomes.
    • Experience providing advice/signposting.
    • Knowledge of safeguarding interventions and an awareness of the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Desirable Experience
    • Experience using a patient clinical system such as EMIS.
    • Knowledge of a range of local community groups which support wellbeing.
