Upper Gordon Road Surgery is seeking a motivated and compassionate Nursing Associate to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting chronic disease management, and promoting health and wellbeing within our local community and supporting the wider multidisciplinary team.
The post holder is a Nursing Associate registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. They will work as part of the general practice nursing team, providing nursing care to patients and holding their own clinical caseload to support the needs of patients registered with the Practice.
Main duties of the job include:
- Demonstrating evidence-based practice when undertaking care and delivering health checks.
- Delivering high standards of nursing care to patients.
- Undertaking chronic disease management including asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension reviews.
- Performing wound care, dressings, and removal of sutures.
- Conducting health promotion and lifestyle advice clinics (e.g. smoking cessation, weight management).
- Carrying out NHS health checks and screening programmes.
- Assisting in infection prevention and control, including maintaining clinical standards and audit processes.
- Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous patient records in accordance with NHS and practice policies.
- Supporting GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team in delivering patient care.
- Participating in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and practice meetings.
- Ensuring safe management of clinical stock, vaccines, and equipment.
- Contributing to safeguarding processes for vulnerable adults and children.
- Completing ongoing monitoring, delegating safely to others, and educating with mentoring and supervising others to deliver high-quality care.
- Carrying out a full health assessment employing support from peers as required.
- Phlebotomy, vaccination, and immunisations recording.

Experience:- Essential: Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary teams. Knowledge of NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code. Understanding requirements for NMC professional Revalidation.
- Desirable: Experience of working in General Practice and managing patients with learning disabilities, severe mental illness, diabetes, and those residing in Care Homes.
- Essential: Reliable, enthusiastic, self-motivated, able to work autonomously, flexible in working arrangements, able to work under pressure, and committed to CPD.
- Essential: Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload, communicate effectively, and develop effective relationships with people.
- Desirable: Ability to support, supervise, assess, and act as a role model to nursing associate students and other learners.
- Essential: GCSE Maths and English (C and above) or equivalent, Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification, Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
- Desirable: Supervision, mentoring, teaching or assessing qualification, completion of GP fundamentals course.
