Position: We are seeking dedicated casual Matchday Stewards to join our matchday operations team at the Kia Oval. This role is essential to ensuring the safety, security, and enjoyment of all stadium attendees. Your main responsibilities will include providing excellent customer service, supporting safety and security operations, and helping to deliver a seamless matchday experience. You will be positioned in various areas around the stadium, including turnstiles, exit gates, the stands, and hospitality areas. This is a flexible role ideal for those who want to gain experience in event operations, enjoy working in a team environment, and earn extra income on matchdays, which includes evening and weekend fixtures.
What You’ll Do:
- Welcome spectators and staff, providing information and assistance as required.
- Check tickets and direct attendees to the correct areas of the stadium.
- Monitor crowd movements during ingress and egress to prevent overcrowding.
- Respond to spectator or crowd disruptions professionally and effectively.
- Assist in the evacuation of the venue, directing spectators to holding areas as instructed by your supervisor.
- Report any incidents, hazards, or suspicious activity to your supervisor/manager or control room, taking immediate action when necessary.
Desirable Skills:
- NVQ Level 2 in Spectator Safety, or working towards it (training may be available).
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and able to work well in a team.
- Reliable, self‑motivated, and professional.
- Strong timekeeping and presentation skills.
- Well presented at all times.
- High standards of integrity and professionalism.
Essential Skills:
- Aged 18 or over with the right to work in the UK.
- Physically fit and mobile.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong customer service focus and a friendly, approachable manner.
£13.85 per hour excluding holiday pay. Complimentary meal and drink provided each matchday shift.
