An opportunity has become available for a joint Pathway and Professional Cricket Psychologist at Surrey County Cricket Club (SCCC). The role will be split between two main areas: (i) supporting the long-term athletic development and health of the SCCC academy and emerging players, and (ii) assisting the delivery of psychology support to the professional playing squad. This role involves planning and delivering practical skills training, while collaborating with coaches and support staff to ensure that psychological aspects are integrated into training and development programmes. Some evening and weekend work will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead and work independently on academy/emerging player group psychology as directed by the Head of Talent Pathways.
  • Assist the lead psychologist for the professional players in the day-to-day psychological support of the professional players, specifically focusing on the second team.
  • Assist the department lead in other duties as agreed by the department lead.
  • Ensure high quality communication with the Head of Talent Pathways and their team as well as the psychology department lead.

The Person

Essential:

  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Sport & Exercise Psychologist.
  • Experience working in elite sport.
  • Significant experience working within a multidisciplinary team and delivering both group and individual work.
  • Expertise in adolescent brain development and its role in player development and evaluation of talent.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience in working with elite youth athletes in a professional environment (preferably professional cricket).
  • Experience in delivering performance psychology and leading initiatives related to performance psychology and culture within elite sporting pathways.
  • Training in psychology profiling tools (e.g., Insights, Spotlight).
