Overview

In this role you will lead strategic public health programmes to improve population health and reduce health inequalities.

You will work across health protection and health improvement, collaborating with local government, NHS and wider partners to deliver evidence-based actions.

You will manage complex programmes, use data to shape priorities, and respond to public health concerns such as suicide prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic public health programmes across health improvement and/or health protection
  • Influence system-wide change through collaboration with partners
  • Deliver evidence-based programmes addressing prevention and outcomes
  • Provide specialist public health advice to colleagues and decision-makers
  • Develop and maintain cross-sector partnerships across health and care
  • Manage programme budgets, commissioned services and performance frameworks
  • Support health protection preparedness and responses to incidents and emerging risks
  • Drive actions to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes for disadvantaged communities
  • Oversee real-time response to suicide and collaborate on Suicide Prevention approaches
  • Key requirements
  • Master’s in public health or relevant subject
  • Experience leading and delivering complex public health programmes across multiple organisations
  • Strong programme and project management skills
  • Experience using data and evidence to inform decisions and measure impact
  • Ability to build effective partnerships with health, local authority, and third sector organisations
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills
