Overview
In this role you will lead and shape Surrey’s substance use prevention, treatment and recovery initiatives, working within the Public Health Team to reduce inequalities and improve population health.
You’ll drive design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and partnerships across local government, NHS and community organisations.
The position focuses on evidence-informed decision making and transformational collaboration to strengthen the Surrey Substance Use Partnership.
You’ll operate in a dynamic, politically aware setting with a clear impact on residents’ health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities
- Lead design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and strategic initiatives on substance use
- Strengthen partnership working and engagement with diverse stakeholders
- Provide public health leadership across programme delivery, service improvement and system development
- Support governance, performance oversight, needs assessment and evaluation activities
- Assist commissioning and contract management as required
- Promote evidence-informed decision making to improve outcomes for Surrey residents
- Collaborate with partners across local government, NHS, voluntary and community sector and criminal justice
- Support delivery of priorities of the Surrey Substance Use Partnership and wider public health objectives
- Key requirements
- Masters degree in Public Health / Health Promotion / Health Protection or substantial relevant experience
- Public Health Practitioner Registration achieved or in progress
- Experience leading or coordinating programmes, projects or partnerships
- Experience in substance use, addiction, recovery, mental health or health improvement
- Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-working skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficiency in data analysis, needs assessment, evaluation and applying evidence to improve outcomes
