This role has a starting salary of £36,873 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This is an apprenticeship opportunity for 36 months.

We are excited to be hiring a new Public Health Apprentice to join our fantastic Public Health team, based in Reigate, Surrey. The Public Health team contributes to healthier communities by addressing issues like disease prevention, population health improvement, health protection, and reducing health inequalities and inequity.

About the Role

This apprenticeship is a 36 month development programme, consisting of 20% off the job training (e.g. attending lectures, online learning, shadowing, learning support, written assessments) and 80% on the job learning. It was developed in alignment to the UKPHR Practitioner Standards and the Public Health and Skills Framework. You will complete the training with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and be eligible to apply for UKPHR Public Health Practitioner registration.

This post will be in the Health Improvement within the Public Health team with opportunity to rotate to other Public Health sub‑speciality teams (health protection, health intelligence, healthcare Public Health).

In this role you will:

  • Support planning, delivery, and evaluation of public health programmes across health improvement, health protection, and healthcare public health
  • Contribute to possible policy and strategy development to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities
  • Analyse data and evidence to inform best practice and cost-effective interventions
  • Assist with commissioning, service monitoring, and contract administration
  • Engage communities to promote equity and gather feedback
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and support communication plans
  • Perform administrative tasks such as meeting coordination and invoice processing

We won\’t be expecting you to jump in and be able to do this all from day one. You\’ll first go through an induction period allowing you to get used to the office and the team. As you gain more confidence in your role, you\’ll be supported to do more and more!

Please note: Candidates must not have a degree or any masters with any degree and must not have or be in the process of completing a professional registration such as UKPHR practitioner, nutrition, etc. You will also be required to provide certificates to the training provider on induction of any previous qualifications you hold. If you are unable to provide these, you may need to obtain the English and Maths Functional Skills.
