Overview

In this role, you will lead and support teams in collecting and validating risk information for diverse properties, helping frontline crews and partners improve safety.

You’ll plan visits, supervise data gathering, and educate businesses and fire teams on risk awareness.

The position blends field checks with data-driven insights to support incident response and safer operations across Surrey.

You’ll work flexibly across sites, contribute to safety-improvement initiatives, and develop expertise in operational risk systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the collection of risk information for all property types
  • Provide station-based support to crews and ensure completion of risk-related tasks
  • Plan, allocate visits, and train personnel on risk data collection
  • Educate businesses and fire teams to ensure shared understanding of risks
  • Engage with partners and stakeholders to share and gather risk information
  • Manage calendar and prioritise workloads with manager support
  • Assess risks/hazards in firefighting operations and monitor protective measures
  • Contribute to data gathering programs and future OPS risk enhancements
  • Key requirements
  • Currently competent in the role
  • Experience leading and managing a diverse team or tasks
  • Experience managing changing priorities and situations
  • Experience gathering risk information and using data storage systems
  • Effective communication and professionalism with service users and partners
  • Experience in leading, engaging and motivating others
  • Ability to apply information to make decisions aligned with priorities
  • Physical fitness and mobility to inspect buildings and carry equipment
