The Role And Key Responsibilities

Join Our Neighbourhood Response Team (NRT) & Response Investigation Team (RIT)

We’re currently recruiting experienced Police Constables who have completed their probationary period and are ready for a new challenge within our Neighbourhood Response Teams (NRT). As part of the NRT, you’ll be working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment where victim care and quality investigations are at the heart of everything we do. You’ll attend incidents, make critical decisions, and use tools like NDM and THRIVE to assess risk and solve problems effectively. Alongside NRT, we have our Response Investigation Team (RIT) a key unit responsible for processing prisoners brought in by NRT and managing PIP 1 crime allocations. RIT offers a fantastic opportunity for officers interested in progressing toward a career in investigations.

Both Teams Operate On a 6-on, 4-off Shift Pattern:

  • NRT: 2 Earlies, 2 Lates, 2 Nights
  • RIT: 2 Earlies, 2 Lates, 1 late, 1 early (no Nights)

We work as one integrated team, flexing resources to meet demand and support each other. Skills & Experience

To apply to transfer to Sussex Police, you must:

  • Be a substantive officer (at appropriate rank) and not subject to a probationary period
  • Be a serving police officer in a Home Office Force or BTP
  • Pass the necessary vetting, occupational health and fitness checks (JRFT at a minimum level of 5.4); such checks will not be carried out until after a successful interview
  • Have no outstanding discipline, integrity or performance issues
  • Be able to show commitment to achieving high levels of attendance
  • Demonstrate a passion and commitment to Sussex Police
  • Not have made an application to join any other force at the same time
  • Have resided in the UK for three years immediately prior to submitting your application, or be able to provide a certificate of good conduct from the relevant country
  • Have a full UK manual driving licence
  • Not be a current or previous member of a proscribed terrorist organisation or group
  • Declare any business interest
  • Declare any membership or involvement with the reserve Forces
  • Not have tattoos which could cause offence
  • Not have any existing County Court Judgements (CCJs) outstanding against you or have registered bankrupt and not have been discharged for at least three years
