Strategic Insights Analyst – Up-to £43,745 + Market Supplement of £3,500 – Hybrid working

The guiding principle and focus of the Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) Department is to provide better services to front-line officers, staff, and support functions to enable both forces to maintain their commitment to the public. You would be joining a team that is committed to continuously developing our digital capabilities to enable our colleagues to provide an effective response to our communities and to deal with the complexity of modern criminality through the exploitation of innovative technologies.
As the Strategic Insights Analyst, you will be responsible for the ongoing development, integrity, and delivery of business intelligence reporting and dashboards, identify and analyse data sources, engage with practitioners to map the activities undertaken to meet demand, and develop processes to improve business intelligence insight.
As the Strategic Insights Analyst, you will:
- Be the central point of contact for data to work proactively with stakeholders to identify and deliver meaningful reporting and insights that will help to inform better service delivery.
- Identify relevant data sources and, using analytical skills, provide products giving evidenced commentary on trends proposing recommendations on actions to be taken, working to strict deadlines.
- Prepare and present independent scrutiny, analysis, and specific advice and recommendations, via exception reporting, to the Senior Management Team, looking in depth at demand and performance matters relating to policing activity. This includes the preparation of management summaries and data commentaries to illustrate trends and patterns using appropriate visualisation tools.
- Develop R or Python scripts to produce predictive models for use within PowerBI or analytical reporting.
- Build and develop meaningful business intelligence reports, to enable the business to self-serve using Power BI and other analytical tools in order to meet changing business needs and to take a proactive role within CDD to identify and progress new requirements to improve efficiency of working practices.
- Produce insight reports and documents for presentation at force boards, and contribute to the writing and development of the Force Management Statement and business planning reports.
- Hold meetings and workshops with divisional and departmental stakeholders to understand new sources of relevant data, and to interpret data to provide insight into how the force could operate more effectively in its delivery of services to victims and the public.
