From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference. It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe. We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of a complex, data-centric transformation programme within Sussex & Surrey Police. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in modernising our data landscape—moving from legacy systems to a unified cloud platform and unlocking the potential of advanced technologies including AI, machine learning, data science, and analytics.

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving the successful delivery of this transformation, working closely with senior leaders, specialist technical teams, and an external delivery partner. This role sits at the heart of a strategic shift toward a more scalable, intelligent, and insight-driven data ecosystem. You will bring strong, hands-on experience in data migration, data architecture, and technical project delivery, alongside the ability to manage risks, dependencies, and technical governance in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

This is a high-impact role where you will help shape the future of our data capabilities—ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective solution that not only meets current needs but enables innovation, advanced analytics, and data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

Skills & Experience
  • High level understanding of architectural data principles and the relationships between data sets, applications, and technology domains.
  • Good knowledge of modern cloud data tooling, data transformation, extraction, and loading techniques.
  • Successful track record of migrating major data repositories from internal on-prem to secure external modern, cloud-based environments.
  • Experience in translating data-focused business and user requirements into clear technical specifications, including data models, pipelines, and integration points.
  • Proven ability to validate and test data solutions against defined specifications, data quality standards, and governance criteria.
  • Able to facilitate and deliver technical solutions in response to problems as they arise during the lifecycle of a project.
  • Experience of developing technical specifications from user requirements, and of testing completed products against technical specifications & quality criteria.
