Surrey and Sussex Police are seeking Four People Services Casework Consultants to join us on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. For internal applicants, this may be offered as a Secondment opportunity.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, capability and operational effectiveness of our workforce. Working as part of a newly established team, you will lead and manage cases, providing expert advice and guidance to leaders across both Forces.
From day one, you will be part of a policing family dedicated to making a positive difference to our communities and to the people who serve them.
As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with line managers and stakeholders across Surrey and Sussex, helping them navigate complex people matters, interpret policy and implement practical solutions that support both individual needs and organisational requirements. You will manage cases from initial assessment through to resolution, ensuring a professional, consistent and people-focused service throughout.
This role offers the opportunity to influence a significant area of transformational change, helping to embed new ways of working and establish best practice within a developing service.
Key Elements of Role
- To provide expert support, advice and guidance on casework related activity working closely with customers and stake holders face to face where necessary.
- Coaching and advising providing expert first line advice.
- Develop local solutions, outcomes and plans.
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders working closely with other elements of People Services.
- Advisors to colleagues/stakeholders for case meetings and management of issues.
The successful candidate will be based at either Lewes or Mount Browne, with travel across Surrey and Sussex as required.
Skills & Experience
We are keen to hear from HR professionals who enjoy solving complex people challenges, building strong relationships and driving positive outcomes.
You will have:
- A strong generalist HR background or significant experience in a specialist people function.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse information, identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience building credible relationships and managing challenging conversations constructively.
- An understanding of change management and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Experience of managing projects, implementing new approaches or contributing to service improvement initiatives.
- Confidence using people systems and data to support decision-making.
- A sound understanding of HR/People Services practices and employment-related processes.
- Flexibility to travel across Surrey and Sussex to meet operational needs.
Essential Qualifications
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent professional experience.
