The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

We are seeking applicants to work in the Police Single Point of Access (PSPA) Safeguarding unit, as part of our Child Case Conference Officer Team. Working in a busy multi-agency team, Child Case Conference Officers manage information sharing for multi-agency child protection conferences, as well as attending conferences on behalf of the Police. Most conferences are virtual and attended by a range of safeguarding partners. At these conferences partners provide and discuss information relating to risks posed to vulnerable children, deciding on actions and formulating plans on how best to manage that risk. It is these conferences that help decide on child protection plans, and monitor their progress.

This important role involves researching sensitive Police systems and providing proportionate and relevant information to partner agencies. You will also be expected to provide advice and guidance to colleagues, key stakeholders and partner agencies in relation to our core functions. We are seeking individuals who have highly effective communication skills, who are able to apply tact and understanding when discussing sensitive matters and who can work as part of a team but are also sufficiently motivated to work on their own.

The team are based at Quadrant Court in Woking but the role includes a significant amount of agile working. There will be times when you will not be required to work from Quadrant Court, and you will have the flexibility to work from another base station or even from home.

The role requires the ability to analyse problems and produce clear and accurate reports to assist with making sound decisions relating to the management of risk and assessment of need. Successful candidates will also be required to represent Surrey Police in a professional manner whilst working together in partnership with other organisations within a multi-agency working environment.

It is desirable, although not essential, for the post holder to have an awareness of approved professional practices involved within Public Protection and Safeguarding disciplines as well as experience of working within a safeguarding environment. It is desirable, although not essential, for the post holder to have experience working with Police systems such as NICHE, PNC and PND. It is desirable but not essential that the postholder holds a valid UK driving licence or is otherwise willing to travel for duties across the County as required. In addition to this the post holder must be able to use (or be willing to undertake training in the use of) a range of Surrey Police and other information sources and applications required to undertake the role. Due to the nature of the role it is a requirement that successful applicants undertake a regular Occupational Health psychometric assessment.
