The Project Engineer role is responsible for supporting the delivery of projects on time and within budget. This role involves coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors and supply chain teams, and working closely with the Project Manager to ensure successful project execution, compliance, and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination & Delivery: Review contract documents, project plans, and specifications, and provide input where required. Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and the supply chain to meet project milestones and deadlines. Assist in scheduling and conducting project review meetings, ensuring alignment on scope, cost, and timelines. Support the Project Manager in monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and resolving issues.
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure all activities are carried out in line with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards. Support compliance with company procedures, site regulations, and CDM requirements. Review RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) and ensure they are followed on-site.
- Communication & Reporting: Maintain regular communication with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders. Prepare progress reports and support updates for client and internal meetings. Report any variations, issues, or risks that may impact cost, programme, or delivery.
- Site Support & Project Management: Supervise subcontractors and supply chain teams on-site. Assist with site mobilisation, inductions, and coordination of logistics and materials. Support the development of construction programmes and project documentation. Contribute to the Construction Phase Plan and overall contract management processes.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: HNC or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related discipline. Experience working on water and wastewater treatment projects. Experience within project engineering, construction, or infrastructure delivery environments. Familiarity with NEC contract conditions is advantageous.
- Skills: Strong communication and organisational skills. Ability to read, analyse, and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, and general IT systems. Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Other Requirements: Ability to travel across the UK and Ireland for project delivery.
