Surfing Croyde Bay is a leading surf school based at Croyde Bay, North Devon, within a designated World Surfing Reserve. A Surfing England Centre of Excellence, we specialise in delivering high-quality surf coaching across all levels — from beginners through to improver, intermediate, and advanced surfers. We pride ourselves on small group ratios, progressive coaching pathways, and a strong focus on safety, development, and customer experience. Alongside surf lessons and camps, we run year-round surf development programmes, junior pathways, and work closely with Surfing England standards and guidelines.
We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate Surf Coaches to join our team. The role involves delivering safe, engaging, and professional surf coaching sessions to adults and children, maintaining high coaching standards, and contributing to a positive, welcoming environment both in and out of the water.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver surf lessons and coaching sessions to a range of abilities
- Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants
- Assess conditions and adapt sessions accordingly
- Set up, maintain, and pack away equipment
- Provide excellent customer service and represent the Surfing Croyde Bay brand
- Work as part of a close-knit coaching and beach operations team
Job requirements:
- Valid Surfing England Level 1 Surf Coach qualification (minimum)
- Current beach lifeguard qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Up-to-date First Aid certificate
- Experience coaching or working with groups, including children
- Ability to work weekends, school holidays, and peak season periods
- Strong ocean awareness and local surf knowledge
