Role Overview

At Sureserve Compliance North we deliver high‑quality training across the gas, renewables, and utilities sectors—and we’re growing. We’re looking for a hands‑on Smart Metering Trainer to join our expert team from within our training centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver industry‑leading training and create a positive, professional learning environment.
- Serve as a role model, setting standards and expectations through conduct, work ethic, integrity and character.
- Deliver, manage and motivate trainees through effective training methodologies in both group and individual settings.
- Continuously improve training programs and offer ongoing learning opportunities across the organisation.
- Utilise a variety of training techniques, learning tools and practices to maximise training effectiveness.
- Conduct specific training needs assessments to support design, development and delivery of training programmes, ensuring the delivery of fully competent engineers on behalf of metering companies.
- Partner with operational management teams to outline deliverables, expectations and risks, including post‑training needs per trainee such as mentor documentation.
Skills & Experience
- Excellent knowledge of gas/electric metering systems, installations and legislation.
- Gas: CCN1 or CMA1, MET1 & REGT1.
- EV charging experience.
- Full understanding of Gas Safe and MOCOPA procedures.
- Knowledge of 18th Edition, U16 and 3‑Phase beneficial.
- High energy, enthusiastic, and motivational training style.
- Excellent creative and conceptual thinking abilities.
- Computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Office and web‑based systems; visual‑aids technology.
- Strong organisational, planning, project‑management, problem‑solving, communication, presentation, facilitation and influencing skills.
- Public‑speaker with strong interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience carrying out dual‑fuel gas and electric smart metering activities.
- Training/mentoring experience.
- Soft skills – communication, critical thinking, time management, team building.
- Single‑phase 1‑rate & 2‑rate knowledge.
- Minimum gas qualification CCN1/CMA1/CMA3, MET1 (3‑Phase, REGT1 and other relevant qualifications beneficial).
- Full clean driving licence.
- Qualifications in Training & Assessing (TAQA or equivalent).
