Role Overview:
We are seeking a Gas-Qualified Supervisor to oversee and lead a team of gas engineers across our field based operational engineers. You\’ll ensure that your teams work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Gas Safety regulations, industry standards, and company procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in gas systems, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support a team of Gas Engineers across planned and reactive maintenance, installations, and inspections
- Carry out quality control checks and post-inspection audits to ensure compliance with Gas Safe and company standards
- Provide technical advice and on-site guidance to engineers for complex gas installations or fault diagnostics
- Lead on communication and deliver toolbox talks and ensure all team members follow health & safety protocols, risk assessments, and safe working practices
- Ensure all gas-related works are correctly documented, including issuing gas safety certificates and maintenance reports
- Support training and mentoring of junior engineers or apprentices
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments to resolve issues and maintain high service delivery standards
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of gas legislation and ensure the company remains compliant with all regulatory requirements
- Assist with stock control, equipment calibration, and tool condition checks for gas-related tools and parts
- General Supervision of field-based teams – managing and monitoring employee absence, reviewing performance and quality, conducting investigations where necessary and recruitment initiatives
- Provide support when mobilising new contracts, with the ability to put your own personal stamp on the situation
- Assist with technical support, and mentoring and training of engineers
- Work within and deliver to set budgets ensuring KPI\’s are met along with contractual compliance
- Ensure you have full operational duties on your contracts and attend contract meeting with clients when required
- Monitor parts usage and ensuring regular van stock checks are undertaken
- Champion customer service, diffuse and satisfactorily resolve escalated complaints, responding to feedback from customers and clients and take appropriate action;
- Performance data production, analysis, and reporting
- Translate corporate objectives into operational achievements and success
Skills & Experience
- Valid domestic gas qualifications. As a minimum, successful candidates must have the following: CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1 (essential)
- A full UK driving license (essential)
- Experience in working in domestic heating and previous practical Supervisory experience within a Gas/Utilities capacity (essential)
- Knowledge of current gas regulations, standards, and Health & Safety legislation
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to resolve issues promptly and effectively
