Salary: £17.25 per hour (equating to £35,875 annually)

Location: Manchester and outer ring

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 40

Working pattern: Monday to Friday with on-call requirements

Holiday entitlement: 20 + Bank Holidays (increases with service)

About the role

Deliver high-quality plumbing and heating installations within occupied and void social housing properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of wet heating work, including radiator installations, pipework modifications, heating system upgrades, ensuring all jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The role requires a customer-focused individual who takes pride in their workmanship and is committed to providing an excellent service to residents and clients.

What you'll be doing

  • This is a varied and hands-on role where you'll be responsible for carrying out all aspects of wet fitting and heating system installations.
  • From installing, replacing, and relocating radiators and valves to completing pipework modifications, repairs, and new pipe runs, you'll play a key role in ensuring residents receive a reliable and efficient heating service.
  • Identify and repair leaks, trace faults within heating systems, and commission systems following completion of works.
  • Conduct risk assessments before starting work and adhere to all relevant legislation, policies, and safe systems of work.
  • Accurate record keeping, effective management of materials and van stock, and a proactive approach to problem-solving will also be key aspects of the role.

What we're looking for

  • We're looking for someone with previous experience as a Wet Fitter, Heating Engineer, Plumber, or in a similar role.
  • You will have a strong understanding of domestic central heating systems and pipework installations, along with experience installing radiators, heating controls, and carrying out plumbing and heating repairs.
  • Valid domestic and/or commercial gas qualifications. As a minimum, successful candidates must have the following: CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1 (essential).
  • Valid UK driving licence (essential).
  • Solid understanding of gas safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A professional and friendly attitude with the ability to forge strong relationships with both clients and tenants.
