To provide high-quality support to young people living in our supported accommodation provision, encouraging responsibility to meet their emotional, social, educational, and health needs whilst also supporting young people to develop independent living skills.

Key Workers help create a safe, supportive environment where young people can develop positive relationships, build resilience, and achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusting, positive relationships with young people to promote emotional wellbeing and stability.
  • Support young people with daily routines, education, health, and recreational activities.
  • Promote independence and life skills, tailored to each young person’s needs and abilities.
  • Provide consistent boundaries and behaviour support using trauma-informed and child-centred approaches.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all young people, reporting concerns immediately in line with safeguarding policies.
  • Understand and follow relevant legislation, guidance, and supported accommodation regulations.
  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records, including updating risk assessments, support plans, completing daily logs and any other recording required in line with compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to support planning by offering observations and feedback on young people’s needs and progress.
  • Communicate effectively during handovers and team meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, education providers, social workers, health professionals, and families.

About You

  • Must be aged 21 or over.
  • Personal or professional experience, or a desire to work with children aged 8-16, in a therapeutic environment.
  • A willingness to undertake required training and qualifications relevant to the role.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with experience of collaborative working.
  • Understanding of and commitment to ensuring safeguarding and child protection procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Ability to work using company policies and procedures to update Support Plans and Risk Assessments using knowledge from both internal and external colleagues.
  • Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft systems and online databases. Full training will be provided.
  • An understanding of person-centred support, strength-based approaches and the importance of trauma informed care.
  • Experience of managing differing behaviours of children or young people, and an understanding of the reasons for these behaviours.
  • A strong desire to improve opportunities and provide positive experiences for young people to be better prepared for independent living.
  • Have a positive, resilient attitude with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Have variable communication and interpersonal skills to enable empathic support to young people who have experienced trauma.
  • An aspiration to foster an environment of trust and collaboration to enable a supportive, inclusive and positive culture.
