Surefreight Limited are one of Ireland's leading haulage companies operating for over 30 years, specialising in transporting full and part loads both to and from the UK. We operate with a modern fleet of 160+ HGV units and offer a wide range of services to our customers including full loads, groupage, warehousing and customs clearance. Our branches are located in Newry, Heysham and Cardiff.

We are seeking a motivated and organised Transport Planner to join our busy operations team in Newry. This is a key role responsible for ensuring the efficient coordination of our fleet while delivering excellent service to our customers.

Working Hours: Wednesday to Friday: 8:30am - 5:30pm, required to take out of hours calls on Thursday and 1 Saturday in every month, in the office and out of hours on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process customer orders accurately
  • Input job details into the traffic management system
  • Provide ETA's to our customers
  • Manage bookings mailbox
  • Book in loads with customers
  • Monitor and track vehicle movements in real time
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams

About You:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar transport planning or logistics role
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport/traffic systems
  • Excellent communication and telephone manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Strong team player with good problem-solving skills

Desirable (but not essential): Knowledge of UK transport regulations.
