A global component supply chain management company is seeking an enthusiastic and accomplished Materials Manager to lead a team of buyers and planners from its Birmingham office.
The Role
You will initially oversee the company's supply chain, specifically managing the purchasing, inventory control, storage and distribution of components to branches located at Woodgate Valley, Burton and Aylesbury. Plans are in place to expand this responsibility to branches in Central Europe (Chomutov, Katowice and Budapest). This is a key leadership role, reporting directly to the European Operations Director with a dotted line to the Integrated Supply Chain Manager for Europe and Asia.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Materials teams to ensure the appropriate resource and experience is dedicated to each customer account.
- Inventory Control: Maintaining, tracking, and storing raw materials and finished goods to meet demand without overstocking.
- Purchasing and Procurement: Sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and purchasing materials to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Demand Forecasting: Using data to predict future material requirements.
- Logistics Coordination: Managing the flow of materials from suppliers into production and, ultimately, to customers.
- Quality Control: Ensuring supplied materials meet company specifications.
