A national courier company is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to join its busy transport team located in Hatfield.
Duties:
- Operate a HGV Class 1 vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring compliance with all road regulations.
- Deliver parcels/packages to designated depot to depot locations in a timely manner while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Primarily this is trunking work with occasional load and unload of cargo including securing it appropriately for transport.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage and fuel usage.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to safety and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 driving license with the appropriate categories for commercial driving.
- Up to date UK CPC and Digi Cards - no EC Cards accepted.
- Clean or minimal points on license and no major endorsements.
- Proven experience as a HGV Class 1 Driver.
- Strong knowledge of UK road safety regulations and best practices in UK transportation.
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with GPS systems and a good knowledge of UK road network is essential.
- A good level of health and fitness and ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo is desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on customer service.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
You will need to pass an assessment for this role which includes a company induction, Multiple Choice Test, Reversing vehicle into bay, vehicle coupling and uncoupling and manual entry.
