The Role:
One of the UK's leading distributors of floor covering products is seeking reliable HGV Class 2 drivers to join its logistics team based in Rayleigh, Essex. The ideal candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of flooring products to various locations in London. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to navigate diverse routes while adhering to all traffic regulations. The successful applicant will have experience in commercial driving in a multi-drop environment, particularly with flatbed vehicles.
Duties
- Operate a lorry in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring compliance with all road regulations.
- Deliver floor coverings to designated locations in a timely manner while maintaining high standards of customer service.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, securing it appropriately for transport.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage and fuel usage.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to safety and operational efficiency.
Pay: Mon-Fri £20/h Start time: 06:00am
Qualifications
- Valid UK HGV Class 2 or 1 driving license with the appropriate categories for commercial driving.
- Up to date CPC and Digi Card.
- Clean or minimal points on license and no major endorsements.
- Proven experience as a Delivery Driver or in a similar role, preferably with a rigid or flat-bed vehicle.
- Strong knowledge of UK road safety regulations and best practices in transportation.
- Excellent navigation skills and familiarity with GPS systems and a good knowledge of London is essential.
- Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on customer service.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
