The ideal candidates will be committed to safety and efficiency while delivering container shipments to and from the port and various locations. This role involves operating HGV Class 1 container vehicles and ensuring timely deliveries, making it essential for candidates to have experience in commercial driving. Responsibilities
- Drive container shipments to and from the port safely and efficiently to designated locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are adequately secured for transport.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and complete necessary paperwork as required.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while on the road.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
Experience
- A minimum of 2 years proven experience as an HGV driver, preferably with container lorries.
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 driver's license with a maximum of 3 points and no significant endorsements.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and navigation tools.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Good physical stamina, as the role requires lifting heavy items and being on the move throughout the day.
