This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior embryologist ready to step into a leadership role, or an existing Lab Manager looking for their next challenge with a clinic that's investing heavily in quality, technology and team development.

The Role As Laboratory Manager, you'll take day-to-day ownership of the embryology laboratory β€” balancing hands-on clinical duties with operational leadership, regulatory compliance and team development. You'll be a key member of the clinic's Senior Management Team, working closely with the Clinic Director and Lab Director/CSO to drive service standards and outcomes for patients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing routine lab operations in line with SOPs, COSHH and the HFEA Code of Practice
  • Managing stock, equipment inventory and capital expenditure planning
  • Leading cryostorage management and consent/disposal processes
  • Supervising, training and mentoring embryology scientists and support staff
  • Acting as Quality Lead β€” driving audits, inspections and continuous improvement
  • Supporting incident investigation and regulatory reporting (HFEA, Datix)
  • Managing staffing levels, recruitment and performance development within the team
  • Contributing to research projects and service development initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant life science
  • HCPC registration
  • Proven leadership experience within a reproductive science / embryology setting
  • Experience training and mentoring junior scientific staff
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems, SOP development and laboratory audits
  • Experience working within an HFEA-regulated environment (desirable)
  • Part I/Part II RCPath or HSST qualification, or working towards (desirable)
  • Confident IT and database skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure

Why Apply This clinic is part of a well-established national network with over 25 years' experience in fertility care, built on values of compassion, collaboration and expertise. You'll join a supportive, patient-focused team with genuine investment in your professional development, leadership training and career progression.
