Hours: Tues – Fri, 06.30am – 16.15pm.

Refuse / Waste Collection Drivers on behalf of a local authority client within the Environmental Services sector. Class 2 drivers who are comfortable working as part of a waste collection team and committed to maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service.

The Role

You will safely operate refuse collection vehicles (RVC) and support the collection, transportation, and disposal of household and commercial waste across designated routes. You may also be required to assist the loading team when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate refuse collection vehicles (RCVs/bin lorries)
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report defects
  • Collect household, recycling, and commercial waste efficiently
  • Work closely with loaders and collection crews to ensure smooth operations
  • Follow all health & safety and manual handling procedures
  • Ensure waste is handled and disposed of in line with environmental regulations
  • Provide a professional and courteous service to the public
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete all required paperwork or digital logs accurately

Requirements

  • Valid UK Category C (Class 2) driving licence
  • Valid CPC qualification
  • Valid Digital Tachograph card
  • Minimum 6 months’ HGV driving experience
  • Previous refuse collection or RCV experience desirable
  • Good understanding of road safety and transport regulations
  • Physically fit and willing to assist with loading duties if required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in all weather conditions
  • Validated RCV experience is advantageous, but not essential – training can be provided for the right candidate.
