Location: Tameside
As a Class 2 HGV Driver you will safely operate refuse collection vehicles and assist in the efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of household waste, ensuring high standards of public health, safety, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles (e.g., bin lorries) safely and efficiently
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues
- Collect household, recycling, and commercial waste along designated routes
- Work closely with loaders/collection crew to ensure smooth operations
- Ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including manual handling practices
- Provide courteous service to members of the public
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and work area
- Complete required paperwork or digital logs accurately
Requirements:
- Valid driving licence (Category C / HGV Class 2)
- CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification
- Digital tachograph
- Previous experience driving large vehicles preferred
- Good knowledge of road safety and transport regulations
- Physically fit and able to assist with loading if required
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Able to drive in all weather conditions
- Waste/Refuse experience preferred but not essential – full training provided!
