As a Lab Technician, based on site at our Droylsden, Manchester manufacturing facility, you will play a key role in supporting laboratory and production operations. Working closely with the laboratory team and wider production staff, you will carry out analytical testing across the manufacturing process to ensure product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous process efficiency. This role is critical to maintaining operational performance, meeting production deadlines, and supporting the company’s quality, safety, and environmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out analysis of raw materials, bulk deliveries, CIP samples, water systems, and finished products, in accordance with approved analytical methods and procedures.
- Ensure all laboratory work is performed in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Health & Safety legislation, SOPs, COSHH, and environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively with laboratory colleagues and process operators to support the continuous operation of the manufacturing process, ensuring KPIs and deadlines are consistently met.
- Interpret analytical data, identify trends, and report results clearly and accurately to key internal stakeholders.
- Collate, record, and maintain laboratory data in the company’s approved formats and systems.
- Support the development, review, and maintenance of compliance documentation, including SOPs, Risk Assessments, and COSHH assessments.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and laboratory organisation, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
- Ensure routine maintenance, calibration, and performance checks are carried out on laboratory instrumentation.
- Manage chemical and consumable stock control, ensuring adequate supply levels and safe storage.
- Demonstrate professional behaviours that align with the company’s values, quality standards, and safety culture.
Skills & Experience
- Scientific background with relevant experience in an analytical laboratory, ideally within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an analytical laboratory.
- Working knowledge of common laboratory instrumentation and analytical techniques.
- Experience with method development and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of GLP, GMP, Quality, Health & Safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver accurate, on-time results.
- High level of problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Proficient and confident in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
