About the Role: Our client, a well-established contractor specialising in electricity and telecoms infrastructure, is seeking experienced HV Overhead Line Engineers to join their growing team. Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of low and high voltage overhead electrical networks on wood poles
  • Operate across voltage levels from 240V up to 33kV
  • Conduct pole erections, conductor stringing, tensioning, and termination
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and uphold safe working procedures on-site
  • Maintain strict adherence to construction, safety, and quality regulations
  • Foster effective communication with both colleagues and clients
  • Follow all operational procedures and health & safety protocols diligently

Essential skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in wood pole overhead line operations
  • Solid understanding of voltage ranges, including LV (240V), 11kV, and 33kV
  • Skilled in climbing, pole top rescue, and the use of safety harnesses and fall arrest systems
  • Familiar with live line tools and protocols for working safely near energised equipment
  • Capable of interpreting technical drawings and switching schedules accurately
  • Experienced in the use of relevant hand and power tools for overhead line work
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team approach
  • Dependable and adaptable, with a willingness to respond to callouts and short-notice assignments
  • Valid, full driving license

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Valid DNO authorisations for overhead wood pole operations
  • Possession of CSR, Safepass, or SHEA Power certifications
  • Training in Manual Handling and First Aid
  • MEWP/IPAF certification for mobile elevated work platforms
  • Certified in Pole Top Rescue procedures
