We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children and fostering their development. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a nurturing environment where early childhood education is prioritised. The Deputy Nursery Manager will assist the Nursery Manager in ensuring high standards of care, safety, and educational quality are maintained at all times.
Duties
- Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily nursery operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Support the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities that promote children's development and learning.
- Supervise nursery staff and volunteers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality childcare.
- Foster effective communication with parents and carers regarding children's progress and nursery activities.
- Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to, maintaining a safe environment for children and staff.
- Support the organisation of staff rotas, holiday cover, and resource management.
- Contribute to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating nursery environment.
- Assist in managing administrative tasks such as record keeping, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Drive nursery vehicles when required for outings or transportation needs.
Experience
- 2 years of proven management experience within a nursery or early childhood education setting.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team of childcare professionals.
- Experience working directly with children, ideally within a childcare or preschool environment.
- Knowledge of childcare regulations, health & safety standards, and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care or equivalent are preferred.
- Experience in early childhood education programmes is advantageous.
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting children or supplies.
