About the Role

We are representing a modern and growing accountancy practice based in Wilmslow, Cheshire, known for delivering proactive accounting, taxation and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, partnerships and individuals. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Client Manager to join their expanding team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice professional looking to take ownership of a varied client portfolio while supporting the development of junior team members. The role offers exposure to compliance, advisory and outsourced finance services, alongside genuine opportunities to contribute to business growth and client relationship management within a progressive and technology-driven firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of limited companies, LLPs, partnerships, sole traders and personal tax clients.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, self-assessment tax returns and capital gains tax computations.
• Deliver year-end compliance work within agreed business deadlines.
• Manage bookkeeping, VAT returns and management accounting services for portfolio clients.
• Review bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts prepared by junior team members.
• Prepare management information, budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial projections.
• Provide business advisory support, including profitability improvement, business planning and performance analysis.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact.
• Support payroll services, P11D preparation and wider compliance requirements.
• Train, mentor and develop Client Accountants, Senior Client Accountants and trainees.
• Promote and implement cloud accounting solutions including Xero and supporting applications.
• Assist with client onboarding, billing processes, workflow planning and WIP management.
• Identify opportunities to cross-sell services and support new business generation.
• Liaise with HMRC and other external stakeholders on behalf of clients.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• AAT or ACCA qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience (QBE).
• Minimum 5 years' experience within an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong experience preparing statutory accounts, tax returns and management accounts.
• Sound knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax compliance and business advisory services.
• Experience managing client portfolios and supervising junior staff.
• Proficient in TaxCalc, Xero and cloud-based accounting software.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commercially aware with a proactive and client-focused approach.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Passionate about technology and cloud accounting solutions.
