An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse in Warrington, Cheshire, within a welcoming small animal practice that places strong emphasis on clinical development, nursing leadership and colleague wellbeing.
The role offers a salary of £29,000–£31,000 pro rata, depending on experience and qualifications, alongside generous CPD support, paid memberships and opportunities to pursue further qualifications. This is a full-time position of 30–40 hours per week, worked within the practice's 8:30am–7:00pm opening hours, with 1 in 4 weekends. There are no OOH requirements or overnight inpatient checks, supporting a healthy and sustainable work-life balance.
The practice is a recently refurbished small animal veterinary surgery with a strong focus on professional development and high standards of patient care. They are RCVS accredited and a recognised teaching practice for RVNs and VCAs, as well as holding Silver Cat Friendly and Silver Rabbit Friendly accreditation. The team is also working towards Fear Free accreditation.

The team includes five Veterinary Surgeons, eight RVNs, three VCAs, six CCAs and an administrator, creating a well-supported nursing environment. The clinical team also includes significant additional expertise, including advanced surgical experience, a surgery certificate holder and a veterinary behaviourist who enables the practice to manage behavioural referrals in-house.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care across a varied small animal caseload.
- Run and develop RVN-led nurse clinics.
- Provide laser therapy and blood sampling services.
- Support puppy and kitten development and preventative healthcare clinics.
- Administer vaccinations and provide parasite-control advice.
- Support surgical cases from admission through to recovery.
- Perform radiography and dental radiography.
- Carry out dental scale and polishes.
- Monitor anaesthesia and support surgical procedures.
- Manage medical inpatients and provide appropriate ongoing care.
- Undertake appropriate Schedule 3 procedures.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients.
- Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons and the wider nursing team.
- Support student and trainee development within the teaching practice.
- Contribute to clinical standards, practice development and ongoing accreditation.
- Participate in CPD and continue developing individual areas of clinical interest.
