About the Role

An excellent opportunity is available for an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join an established small animal practice in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire .

Salary: Up to £65,000 p/a FTE, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time or part-time considered
Consultations: 20-minute appointments
Weekend rota: 1 in 3, with time off during the week
Out-of-hours: None
Sole charge: Occasional

This is a varied first-opinion role covering cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs , with opportunities to develop individual clinical interests and work towards Certificate-level qualifications.

About the Practice

The practice is an RCVS Practice Standards Accredited small animal clinic offering a friendly, supportive working environment and a varied medical and surgical caseload.

The bright, spacious and air-conditioned practice is purpose-built to high clinical standards and benefits from modern equipment, including:

The team has a broad range of clinical interests, including behaviour, wellness and small furry care , creating an environment where colleagues can share knowledge and develop their own interests.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care.

• Conduct 20-minute consultations .

• Manage a varied caseload involving cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs.

• Diagnose and treat medical conditions.

• Perform routine surgical procedures appropriate to experience.

• Build strong and lasting relationships with clients and their pets.

• Work collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses and the wider practice team.

• Maintain excellent standards of patient welfare and clinical care.

• Develop individual areas of interest through CPD and further training.

• Participate in the weekend rota.

• Take occasional sole charge responsibility when required.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a confident Veterinary Surgeon who is comfortable managing routine medical and surgical cases within a first-opinion setting.

They should enjoy building strong relationships with clients, patients and colleagues and have excellent communication skills.

The practice would suit a clinician who values clinical freedom, professional development and a supportive team environment .

An interest in pursuing further qualifications would be welcomed, with Certificate-level study supported where appropriate.
