About the Role

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire , offering a salary of up to £70,000 depending on experience .

This is an ideal opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to join a small, friendly and supportive practice with a strong local reputation and an experienced clinical team.

The role offers 35–40 hours per week , with flexibility to agree a mutually suitable working pattern. Weekend work is shared on a 1 in 4 rota , with no out-of-hours requirements .

Consultations are structured around 20-minute appointments , with protected time for administration, lunch breaks and regular clinical discussions.

About the Practice

The practice is an established small animal veterinary surgery with a close-knit team and a strong emphasis on collaboration, empathy and professional development.

The clinical team includes experienced Veterinary Surgeons with interests in feline medicine and dentistry , alongside a new graduate, supported by 5 nurses, a Student Veterinary Nurse, 3 VCAs, 5 receptionists and a Practice Manager .

The practice operates an open-door approach to clinical support, ensuring colleagues can discuss cases, share knowledge and develop their skills within a welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care across a varied small animal caseload.

• Conduct thorough consultations using 20-minute appointment times .

• Diagnose and manage medical cases appropriately.

• Perform routine surgical procedures within your experience.

• Develop treatment plans and provide continuity of patient care.

• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients.

• Build strong relationships with clients, patients and colleagues.

• Work collaboratively with the experienced veterinary and nursing team.

• Participate in regular clinical discussions and case reviews.

• Maintain high standards of clinical care and patient welfare.

• Continue developing clinical skills through CPD and supported professional development.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with UK general practice experience who is confident managing a varied first-opinion caseload.

They should be a strong team player who values collaboration, communication and providing consistently high standards of patient care.

The successful candidate will ideally:

• Hold RCVS registration or be eligible to register.

• Have previous UK small animal general practice experience .

• Be confident managing routine medical and surgical cases.

• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Enjoy working collaboratively within a close-knit team.

• Be compassionate, approachable and supportive.

• Be keen to continue developing their clinical knowledge and skills.

• Share a commitment to delivering excellent veterinary care.
