About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its large and rapidly growing small animal team in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
The position offers a salary of up to £75,000 FTE depending on experience, alongside the support of an extensive and highly experienced clinical team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon looking for exposure to a large and varied caseload, with access to visiting clinicians across advanced orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging and endoscopy.
There is no sole charge, and the weekend commitment is 1 in 4 weekends. Ideally, applicants will have 3+ years' post-qualification experience.

About the Practice
The practice is a busy and well-established small animal general practice with a large, bonded client base and a substantial multidisciplinary team.
The wider team consists of more than 60 colleagues, including 16 Veterinary Surgeons, alongside an experienced nursing and animal care team. With approximately 1,000 consultations each week, the practice provides exposure to an extensive range of medical and surgical cases.
Clinical facilities include two operating theatres, a dedicated dental room, dental radiography, digital radiography and ultrasound.
Visiting clinicians also provide additional expertise in advanced orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging and endoscopy, allowing more complex cases to be managed while maintaining continuity of care.
The practice has been established for many years and maintains high clinical standards while continuing to grow. Its Stockport location also provides excellent transport connections throughout Greater Manchester and the wider North West.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality first-opinion veterinary consultations
- Managing a large and varied small animal caseload
- Performing routine surgical procedures
- Investigating and managing medical cases
- Developing appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
- Utilising radiography, dental radiography and ultrasound
- Working alongside visiting clinicians on more advanced cases
- Providing preventative healthcare and ongoing patient management
- Communicating treatment options clearly and compassionately with clients
- Collaborating with a large veterinary, nursing and animal care team
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
- Upholding high standards of clinical governance and patient welfare
- Participating in the shared weekend rota
- Developing individual clinical interests through CPD and further qualifications
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeon, ideally with at least three years' post-qualification experience.
You should be confident managing a broad first-opinion caseload and comfortable working within a busy clinical environment.
The position would particularly suit a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys collaborative case management and wants exposure to a wide variety of medical, surgical and diagnostic cases without sole-charge responsibilities.
Veterinary Surgeons looking to develop additional clinical interests are encouraged to apply, with CPD and certificate funding available.
Strong communication, teamwork and client care skills are essential.
