An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon in York, North Yorkshire, to join a well-established first opinion small animal practice on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract.
Offering a competitive salary of up to £70,000 DOE, this flexible opportunity can be tailored to suit your lifestyle, with full-time, part-time, and flexible working arrangements available. The role can be up to 40 hours per week and includes participation in a 1 in 6 Saturday rota, with no out-of-hours (OOH) commitments, providing an excellent work-life balance.

About the Practice
This long-established small animal practice has earned an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality veterinary care throughout York and North Yorkshire.
The practice is home to a highly experienced team of 10 Veterinary Surgeons, bringing together over 100 years of combined clinical experience across a broad range of disciplines. Special interests within the team include:
- Dentistry

Supported by a loyal team of Registered Veterinary Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, and Receptionists, the practice has built a collaborative culture where knowledge is shared, colleagues are encouraged to develop, and patient care remains the highest priority.

Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality first opinion veterinary care to small animal patients
- Manage a varied medical and surgical caseload
- Perform consultations, diagnostics, and routine surgical procedures
- Work collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses and the wider practice team
- Provide exceptional client communication and continuity of care
- Support and mentor colleagues where appropriate
- Participate in occasional sole charge duties
- Contribute to maintaining high clinical standards across the practice
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys working within a collaborative and progressive clinical environment.

- RCVS registration and experience in small animal practice
