An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, to join a friendly, sociable and supportive small animal practice with a varied caseload and excellent clinical equipment. The role offers a salary of up to £75,000 pro rata, depending on experience, with full-time and part-time hours available. The practice is entering an exciting new chapter following a planned rebrand and is looking to strengthen its permanent veterinary team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a GP Veterinary Surgeon who wants to develop their clinical interests, work towards a certificate or bring existing certificate-level expertise into a growing practice. The role includes 1 in 2 Saturdays, 9am-5pm, with a weekday off in lieu, supporting a healthy work-life balance.
The practice is a busy small animal surgery in Royal Tunbridge Wells, primarily treating cats and dogs across a varied and engaging first-opinion caseload. The close-knit team includes:
- 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses
- 3 Student Veterinary Nurses
- Practice Manager
- Permanent Veterinary Surgeon colleagues
The practice has previously relied on visiting specialists across areas including orthopaedics, cardiology, diagnostic imaging and ophthalmology. There is now an exciting opportunity to build greater in-house clinical capability and develop more advanced cases within the practice.

Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care to primarily canine and feline patients.
- Manage a varied medical and surgical caseload.
- Conduct thorough consultations and diagnostic investigations.
- Perform routine surgical procedures to a high standard.
- Utilise laparoscopic, endoscopic and orthopaedic equipment where appropriate.
- Build strong relationships with clients and provide excellent patient and client care.
- Work collaboratively with RVNs, SVNs and the wider practice team.
- Support the development of in-house clinical capabilities.
- Develop personal clinical interests and areas of expertise.
- Work towards or utilise existing certificate-level qualifications where appropriate.
- Contribute to clinical discussions, lunch and learn sessions and ongoing team development.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and high standards of patient welfare.
- Help build a consistent and thriving permanent clinical team.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced GP Veterinary Surgeon who is confident managing a broad range of first-opinion medical and surgical cases. They should enjoy working as part of a friendly, sociable and supportive team and be keen to contribute to the continued development of the practice. Candidates who are working towards a certificate or already hold a relevant certificate will be particularly welcomed, especially those with an interest in developing more advanced cases in-house.
