An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Romford, East London, to join an established and busy small animal practice with a large, experienced clinical team and excellent facilities. The role offers a salary of up to £80,000, alongside generous CPD and certificate funding, paid professional memberships and strong career development opportunities. This is a full-time position split across 4 weekdays, with a weekend rota of 1 in 6 full weekends and 1 in 6 Saturdays only. Part-time hours may also be considered for the right candidate.
The role would suit a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years' experience, significant internal medicine experience and confidence across routine surgery, diagnostics and occasional sole-charge work.
About the Practice
The practice is a busy, established small animal surgery with a team comprising 13 Veterinary Surgeons, 12 RVNs, 10 Student Veterinary Nurses and 10 Receptionists. The clinical team has a broad range of interests spanning internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedic surgery, creating an environment with plenty of opportunities for knowledge sharing and professional development. The purpose-built surgery has been designed to high clinical standards and features:

Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care across a varied small animal caseload.
- Confidently manage routine medical and surgical cases.
- Apply strong internal medicine knowledge to complex and routine cases.
- Perform routine surgical procedures competently.
- Undertake thorough clinical examinations and diagnostic work-ups.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results appropriately.
- Manage cases independently, including occasional sole-charge responsibility.
- Build strong relationships with clients and provide excellent customer service.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnosis and treatment options.
- Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and wider support colleagues.
- Contribute to clinical discussions and the continued development of the practice.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and high standards of patient care.
- Participate in CPD and further certificate study where appropriate.
- Support a positive, flexible and team-focused working environment.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in the UK. They should have significant internal medicine experience and be confident managing a broad range of medical cases. Competence in routine surgical procedures and confidence with diagnostic and medicinal work-ups are essential. The successful candidate should also be comfortable with occasional sole-charge responsibility and demonstrate a flexible approach to general practice. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are important, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and provide consistently high levels of customer service. They should be passionate about patient care, enjoy working as part of an established team and be keen to contribute to the continued development of the practice.
