About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its friendly small animal team in Stechford, Birmingham.
This is a permanent position working 34 hours per week across four days, with some Saturday shifts required. The role comes with a competitive salary depending on experience and no out-of-hours or overnight inpatient checks.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your nursing skills across the patient journey, including admissions, anaesthetic monitoring, recovery and discharge, with additional clinical support available for theatre turnaround and patient preparation.
Salary: Competitive, DOE (from Β£28,000 - Β£32,000)
Location: Stechford, Birmingham, West Midlands
Schedule: 34 hours per week across 4 days
Weekends: Some Saturday shifts required
OOH: None, including no overnight inpatient checks
About the Practice
The practice is a modern, purpose-built small animal clinic with a strong emphasis on teamwork, clinical standards and compassionate patient care.
The nursing team benefits from additional support with patient preparation and theatre turnaround, helping RVNs focus their time on clinical nursing responsibilities.

There is also scope to support the development of other nursing colleagues, making the position particularly suitable for an RVN who is already a Clinical Coach or interested in becoming one.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:

Delivering high-quality nursing care to small animal patients

Admitting patients for procedures and hospitalisation

Monitoring patients under anaesthesia

Providing perioperative nursing care

Supporting patient preparation for procedures

Monitoring patients throughout recovery

Managing patient discharges and communicating aftercare instructions

Supporting Veterinary Surgeons during clinical procedures

Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records

Providing excellent client care and communication

Working collaboratively with veterinary, nursing and support colleagues

Supporting students and less experienced colleagues where appropriate

Maintaining high standards of infection control and patient welfare

Contributing to the efficient day-to-day running of the clinical environment
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience.
You should have strong general nursing skills and be comfortable across areas including anaesthetic monitoring, inpatient care, patient recovery and discharge.
Excellent customer service and communication skills are important, alongside a positive and collaborative approach to teamwork.
Previous experience as a Clinical Coach would be advantageous, although applications are also welcomed from RVNs willing to work towards this qualification.
A genuine commitment to animal welfare and maintaining high clinical standards is essential.
