A veterinary practice is seeking an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a friendly small animal team working across New Mills and Buxton, Derbyshire. This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary starting from £30,500 per year. Flexible working can be discussed, including the possibility of a 4-day working week.

The role offers plenty of clinical variety, including nurse-led appointments, Schedule 3 activities, inpatient care and surgical support.

Location: New Mills & Buxton, Derbyshire

Schedule: Full-time with flexible working and a 4-day week considered

Weekends: 1 in 4 Saturdays, 8:00am–4:30pm

You will work across two welcoming small animal practices in New Mills and Buxton, supported by an established team of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants. Both practices offer a close-knit working environment where collaboration, communication and high standards of patient care are prioritised.

The rota includes a mixture of early, mid and late shifts, with working hours ranging from 8:00am to 7:30pm. Saturday shifts are based at the New Mills practice.

Professional development is encouraged through internal clinical communities, CPD opportunities, funded certificates and structured career pathways.

Responsibilities

  • Running nurse-led consultations and appointments
  • Undertaking Schedule 3 procedures where appropriate
  • Supporting Veterinary Surgeons with consultations, surgery and procedures
  • Providing high-quality inpatient nursing and patient monitoring
  • Managing patient admissions and discharges
  • Delivering excellent client communication and support
  • Maintaining high clinical, operational and regulatory standards
  • Working across the New Mills and Buxton practices
  • Collaborating closely with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and Veterinary Care Assistants
  • Contributing to the continued development of clinical standards and patient care

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for high-quality small animal nursing and excellent patient care.
