About the Role

A veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join its established small animal team in Filton, Bristol.

This is a full-time, permanent position, ideally working 39 hours per week with some Saturdays, and there are no out-of-hours requirements.

The role offers a salary of up to Β£35,000 depending on experience, alongside strong support for CPD, certificates and further qualifications.

You will have the opportunity to use your full nursing skill set while developing particular areas of clinical interest within a supportive and well-resourced environment.

About the Practice

The practice is a well-established small animal clinic with a large and experienced clinical and support team.

Following a recent expansion and refurbishment, the practice provides a modern working environment with purpose-built operating theatres, a dedicated dental theatre, preparation areas and separate wards.

The wider team includes eight Veterinary Surgeons alongside an established nursing team, students, care assistants and non-clinical colleagues, creating a collaborative environment with plenty of support available.

The practice is conveniently located on the outskirts of Bristol, within walking distance of a local railway station and with straightforward access to the M32, M4 and M5.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering high-quality nursing care to small animal patients
  • Supporting Veterinary Surgeons during consultations and clinical procedures
  • Assisting with surgical and dental procedures
  • Providing inpatient nursing and patient monitoring
  • Supporting anaesthesia and patient recovery
  • Running nurse-led consultations where appropriate
  • Managing patient admissions and discharges
  • Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records
  • Working collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, nurses and support colleagues
  • Maintaining high standards of patient welfare, hygiene and clinical care
  • Developing individual clinical interests through CPD and further qualifications

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with experience across the core areas of small animal veterinary nursing.

You should be passionate about providing excellent patient and client care and enjoy working as part of a larger, collaborative clinical team.

The practice is particularly interested in nurses who want to continue developing professionally. Certificates and further education are actively encouraged and funded, with support including study time and opportunities to gain relevant clinical experience.

Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills will be important, alongside a proactive approach to patient care and professional development.
