About the Role

A veterinary practice is seeking a passionate and versatile Veterinary Surgeon to join its experienced clinical team across the Sussex and Surrey region.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours over a 4-day week, with a 1 in 4 weekend rota and a salary of up to £85,000 per year.

The position offers excellent clinical variety, with opportunities to work across both branch and hospital environments. The caseload ranges from first-opinion consultations and routine procedures through to advanced soft tissue surgery and daytime emergency and critical care (ECC).

Professional development is central to the role, with substantial CPD support and opportunities to pursue certificates and develop individual clinical interests.

About the Practice

You will work within a well-equipped clinical environment offering access to an extensive range of advanced diagnostic and surgical technology.

Facilities include CT, MRI, laparoscopic equipment, digital radiography, dental radiography, premium ultrasound, a comprehensive in-house laboratory and laser therapy.

The experienced veterinary team has a broad range of clinical interests and advanced skills, including orthopaedic surgery, regenerative medicine, dentistry, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, cytology, endoscopy, minimally invasive surgery, soft tissue surgery and dermatology.

Experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses and support colleagues provide additional clinical assistance, allowing Veterinary Surgeons to focus on delivering excellent patient care and developing their skills.

The practice offers convenient transport connections, with a railway station approximately 10 minutes away on foot. Gatwick Airport is around 20 minutes away, while Central London and the South Coast are also readily accessible.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality first-opinion consultations

  • Investigating and managing medical cases

  • Performing routine surgical procedures

  • Supporting more advanced soft tissue surgical cases

  • Contributing to daytime emergency and critical care cases

  • Developing appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans

  • Utilising advanced diagnostic imaging and clinical equipment

  • Providing excellent communication and service to clients

  • Working collaboratively with experienced Veterinary Surgeons and RVNs

  • Participating in the 1 in 4 weekend rota

  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and high standards of clinical governance

  • Developing individual clinical interests through CPD and further qualifications

  • Sharing knowledge and supporting the development of colleagues

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least one year of post-graduate clinical experience or broader general practice experience.

You should be comfortable managing first-opinion cases and enthusiastic about developing your capabilities across medicine, surgery and emergency care.

The position would particularly suit a clinician who enjoys clinical variety and wants exposure to advanced diagnostics, surgery and ECC within a supportive environment.

Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, together with a commitment to continued professional development.
