An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Coventry, West Midlands, to join a modern, purpose-built first-opinion practice entering an exciting period of growth. The role offers a salary of up to £65,000 FTE, depending on experience, alongside flexible working, no out-of-hours and generous CPD support. This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon who wants to play an active role in shaping a growing practice, developing their own clinical interests and working within a collaborative team. The position offers up to 40 hours per week, with no current weekend commitment. Saturday opening is planned for the future, with a rota of 2 in 4 Saturdays and time off in lieu during the week.
The practice is a bright, modern and purpose-built small animal veterinary surgery in Coventry Canley, designed to provide high standards of clinical care and an excellent experience for both patients and clients. The practice is currently growing its caseload while maintaining a personalised approach to patient care. This provides an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to become an integral part of a developing practice and help shape its future.
The experienced support team includes:
- Three qualified RVNs, each with up to five years' experience
- Two experienced receptionists
- An RVN Practice Manager with more than 15 years' post-qualification experience
- An experienced Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in exotics joining the team
- Surgical Certificate expertise within the wider clinical team
- An OV within the team
Clinical facilities include:
- Digital X-ray
- Dental X-ray
- Ultrasound
- In-house laboratory

The practice also works with visiting referral-level surgeons who perform advanced procedures on site while mentoring the clinical team. This provides opportunities to develop surgical skills while keeping suitable cases in-house.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care across a varied small animal caseload.
- Confidently manage routine medical and surgical cases.
- Perform routine surgical procedures to a high standard.
- Conduct thorough consultations and diagnostic work-ups.
- Develop and manage cases in-house wherever clinically appropriate.
- Work alongside visiting referral-level surgeons and benefit from clinical mentoring.
- Build strong relationships with clients and provide excellent customer service.
- Collaborate with RVNs, reception colleagues and the wider practice team.
- Contribute ideas towards the development and growth of the practice.
- Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Develop individual clinical interests through CPD and practical experience.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and high standards of patient welfare.
- Contribute to the continued improvement of clinical standards and practice protocols.
