About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its established small animal team in Bristol in a predominantly consulting-focused position.
This is a permanent, part-time role working Mondays and Fridays, alongside just 1 in 5 weekends.
The position offers a salary of £45,000–£55,000 FTE depending on experience, with no out-of-hours requirements.

About the Practice
The practice is a well-established small animal clinic with an experienced veterinary, nursing and non-clinical team.
The clinical team has interests across surgery, dentistry, feline medicine and diagnostic imaging, providing a collaborative environment for case discussion and knowledge sharing.
The practice sees a varied caseload including cats, dogs, rabbits and small furries and maintains a close relationship with a referral provider for cases requiring additional specialist input.
The clinic has achieved Silver Cat Friendly Clinic status and Silver Rabbit Friendly accreditation and is also an approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice.
Further development of the practice and its facilities is planned from August 2026, supporting continued growth of the clinical services available.
The location offers convenient access to local amenities, public transport and parking, with straightforward connections to the M4, M5 and M32.
Responsibilities
- Delivering high-quality first-opinion small animal consultations
- Managing a varied consulting caseload
- Investigating medical cases and developing appropriate treatment plans
- Providing preventative healthcare and ongoing patient management
- Caring for cats, dogs, rabbits and other small pets
- Building strong and lasting relationships with clients
- Communicating diagnoses and treatment options clearly and compassionately
- Working collaboratively with veterinary, nursing and support colleagues
- Liaising with referral services where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
- Upholding high standards of clinical governance and patient welfare
- Participating in the shared weekend rota
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeon with previous experience in small animal general practice.
You should have a particular passion for consulting and be confident managing a broad range of routine and more involved first-opinion medical cases.
Excellent communication and client care skills are essential, alongside the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and their pets.
You should also enjoy working collaboratively within an experienced clinical team and be comfortable seeing a varied caseload that includes cats, dogs, rabbits and small furries.
Compensation & Benefits
