About the Role

A veterinary practice is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and established small animal team in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

This is a permanent position offering up to £70,000 depending on experience, alongside a £5,000 welcome bonus. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcomed, with flexible working arrangements considered wherever possible.

The role offers a varied first-opinion caseload, protected administration time and longer appointments for more complex cases. There are no out-of-hours requirements, with weekends shared across the team.

About the Practice

The practice is a purpose-built small animal clinic with an established veterinary, nursing and support team and a loyal client base.

Facilities include three consultation rooms, alongside dedicated colleague and administration areas.

Routine appointments are 15 minutes, with 30-minute consultations available for more complex cases. Protected administration time is built into the diary, alongside one-hour lunch breaks and morning and afternoon breaks.

The varied caseload provides opportunities to investigate and manage cases locally, while visiting clinicians provide additional support across orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology and ultrasonography.

Professional development is actively encouraged, with funded CPD and certificate support available for Veterinary Surgeons looking to develop specific clinical interests.

Chippenham provides convenient access to the Wiltshire countryside while offering strong transport connections to Bath, Bristol and London.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality first-opinion small animal consultations
  • Investigating and managing a varied medical caseload
  • Performing routine surgical procedures
  • Developing appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
  • Working cases up to a high clinical standard
  • Providing preventative healthcare and ongoing patient management
  • Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients
  • Working collaboratively with veterinary, nursing and support colleagues
  • Liaising with visiting clinicians on more advanced cases where appropriate
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
  • Upholding high standards of clinical governance and patient welfare

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeon with strong communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent patient and client care.
