A well-established small animal practice in Bishopbriggs, Scotland is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a flexible opportunity, available full-time, part-time, or on a customised schedule to suit your lifestyle. The caseload primarily involves first opinion dogs and cats, with some rabbits and guinea pigs. Clinical work includes medical cases, dermatology, and surgical procedures such as neutering, mass removals, dentistry, and more. Candidates are encouraged to work up cases independently where comfortable, with access to local referral facilities for more complex cases.
The practice operates across two modern branches, both easily commutable from Glasgow city centre, offering the ideal mix of urban convenience and access to the Scottish countryside. The main branch has recently been refurbished and includes three consult rooms, a theatre, radiography, ultrasound, dental facilities, and separate cat and dog wards, while the secondary branch features a dedicated dental suite. The team includes 16 vets, supported by 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 8 support staff, with a strong culture of continuous professional development. Team members are actively pursuing certificates in surgery, cardiology, and small animal medicine. Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality first opinion veterinary care for dogs, cats, and small mammals
- Manage medical, surgical, and dental cases, including neutering and mass removals
- Collaborate effectively with clinical staff and support team
- Communicate confidently with clients, providing clear advice and guidance
- Participate in a 1-in-4 Saturday rota (consultations only, 9am-1pm)
- Work across both practice branches as required
