We are currently working with a well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Edinburgh, known for delivering high-quality outsourced finance and advisory services to a diverse SME client base. Due to continued growth within their outsourcing function, they are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with clients, gain exposure to varied bookkeeping work, and progress within a supportive and people-focused firm offering flexible working.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high volumes of invoices, expenses and day-to-day financial transactions
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly VAT returns
- Manage bookkeeping for a small portfolio of clients
- Perform bank and control account reconciliations
- Process wages and month-end journals
- Respond promptly to client queries via telephone and email
- Maintain accurate filing and document management systems
- Adhere to internal quality control procedures and deadlines
Ideal Candidate Profile
- AAT qualified or qualified by experience
- Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or outsourcing environment
- Experience working in a high-volume data processing role
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage)
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Proactive, reliable and client-focused approach
