The Role

The successful candidate will manage a small portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for the flow and processing of financial information through cloud accounting software. Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of small business clients
• Using cloud accounting software to maintain accurate accounting records
• Liaising directly with clients by telephone and email
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Assisting with the practice's Making Tax Digital department
• Supporting senior accountants with processing accounting entries through to trial balance
• Preparation of management accounts and statutory accounts
• Managing workloads effectively and meeting client deadlines

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' recent experience within a UK accountancy practice and strong practical experience across accounts preparation and bookkeeping. The successful candidate will have:

• Strong experience preparing accounts for sole traders, limited companies and partnerships to a high standard
• At least 3 years' recent UK accountancy practice experience
• Experience with VAT returns
• Experience processing accounting records through to trial balance
• Management accounts experience would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of cloud bookkeeping and accounting software - Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, FreeAgent
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
• A proactive approach and ability to use initiative

Making Tax Digital and Career Development

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to support the practice's Making Tax Digital department, gaining valuable experience across cloud accounting, bookkeeping, VAT, accounts preparation and management accounts.

Additional Requirement

Due to occasional requirements to collect client records, the successful candidate must have a full driving licence and access to their own car.
